Who was Vivekananda?

Vivekananda was a great Hindu saint and religious leader; founder of the Ramakrishna Mission. He was born in Calcutta on January 12, 1863 and his original name was Narendranath Dutta. He led the Vedanta movement. His message influended many of India’s leaders in national awakening in the 20th century. He asked his countrymen to cultivate faith in themselves. He died on January 4, 1902, at the age of 39.
