The Properties of Aqua Fortis –
(i) Aqua Fortis is a colourless, fuming, and highly corrosive liquid (freezing point −42°C, boiling point 83°C).
(ii) Aqua Fortis is extremely corrosive in nature.
(iii) In aqueous solution, nitric acid behaves as strong acid giving H₃O⁺ and NO₃^–.
