The Postulates of the Collision Theory of Bimolecular Gaseous Reactions…

The main postulates of this theory are as follows:
(i) For an effective collision, the colliding molecules must possess threshold energy.
(ii) For a reaction to occur, there must be collision between reactant molecules.
(iii) Not all collision leads to formation of product, only small fraction of total collision are effective in product formation.
(iv) The reaction between molecules occurs only when they collide with each other in a proper orientation.
