Solubility in Carboxylic Acids…
Lower members of aliphatic acids with C1 — C3 atoms are highly soluble in water due to H-bonding. Solubility of carboxylic acids decreases with increase in the number of carbon atoms due to an increase in hydrophobic interactions of the hydrocarbon part.
