Physical Properties of Alkyne –
(i) The boiling and melting points of alkynes are slightly higher than those of corresponding alkenes.
(ii) Density of alkynes increases with increase in their molecular size.
(iii) Alkynes are soluble in organic solvents like benzene, ether.
(iv) Alkynes are odourless in nature but acetylene posses the smell of garlic due to the presence of phosphine as impurity in acetylene.
