Law of Floatation - When a body of density ρ_s and volume V is immersed in a liquid of density ρ_l, (i) The body will float with fully immersed in the liquid, if the weight of the body is just balanced by upthrust. i.e. Vρ_sg < V_iρ_lg (ii) The solid body floats with a part of it in the fluid, if weight of the body is less than the upthrust. i.e. Vρ_sg < V_iρ_lg (iii) The body will sink, if weight of the body is greater than the upthrust. i.e. Vρ_sg > V_iρ_lg
