Poise (p) is a unit of dynamic viscosity. If the shearing stress in a liquid is expressed in dynes/cm2 and the velocity gradient perpendicular to the direction of flow is in sec-1 then the viscosity defined by is in units of Poise (or alternatively gram per cm per sec).
